Position 1 : GBV Response Officer

Location: Abala, Zone 2, Afar Region (with frequent travel to Berahle and Erebti)

Career Level: Mid Level (2+ – 5 years experience)

Job Description:

ALIGHT is seeking a Female GBV Response Officer to join their team in Abala, Zone 2, Afar Region. As a GBV Response Officer, your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Program planning & implementation:
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of GBV program activities in IDP sites.
  • Supervise and support WGFS activities, including case management/psychosocial support.
  • Identify and assist vulnerable women and girls, including survivors of GBV.
  • Establish referral pathways and link individuals to supportive services.
  • Conduct outreach and community mobilization interventions.
  1. Human Resource Management & Capacity Building:
  • Assist in recruitment and training of GBV staff.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations.
  • Ensure adherence to ALIGHT HR policies and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Develop and monitor capacity building strategies for GBV staff.
  1. Coordination & Collaboration:
  • Foster effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other ALIGHT sectors and operations personnel.
  • Represent ALIGHT in sector-based coordination meetings.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Community Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with GBV survivors, preferably in refugee/IDP settings.
  • Knowledge of GBVIMS and relevant methodologies preferred.
  • Background in GBV, human rights, and/or protection.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is a plus.

Position 2 : GBV Response Officer

Alight Ethiopia is seeking a Female GBV Response Officer for their program in Debrebirhan, Amhara Region. Alight is an international non-profit organization that provides humanitarian assistance to refugees, IDPs, and disaster-affected communities in various countries. The GBV Response Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating GBV response activities in IDP sites. They will provide case management and psychosocial support services to vulnerable women, including survivors of GBV. The officer will also oversee the implementation of psychosocial and information sessions at the WGFS/CFS and supervise assistant CP/GBV officers/community outreach mobilizers. The role requires collaboration with government entities, UN agencies, and NGOs to achieve protection objectives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Program planning & implementation
  • Coordinate and monitor GBV program activities in IDP sites.
  • Supervise and support activities related to case management/psychosocial support.
  • Identify and assist vulnerable women and girls, particularly GBV survivors.
  • Link vulnerable individuals to appropriate supportive services.
  • Ensure effective referral pathways and community mobilization interventions.
  • Maintain records, produce reports, and ensure ethical data collection and sharing.
  • Provide case management services and contribute to project evaluations.
  1. Human Resource Management & Capacity Building
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of GBV staff.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations.
  • Adhere to ALIGHT PSEA and safeguarding policies.
  • Design and monitor capacity building strategies for GBV staff.
  • Ensure staff support, debriefing processes, and safety planning.
  1. Coordination & Collaboration
  • Develop working relationships with stakeholders and CBOs.
  • Collaborate with other ALIGHT sectors and operations personnel.
  • Represent the interests of the GBV/CP program in coordination meetings.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Community Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with GBV survivors, preferably in refugee/IDP settings.
  • Experience in counseling, case management, and GBVIMS.
  • Knowledge of relevant methodologies and background in GBV, human rights, and protection.
  • Proficiency in participatory techniques and community mobilization.
  • Strong leadership, training, and supervision skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills in English.
